If you rely on public transport in Dubai, your daily commute is about to change for the better. From Friday, August 29, 2025, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is rolling out five brand-new bus routes and upgrading nine existing ones. The update is part of Dubai’s plan to expand its transport network and make it easier for residents to move between business hubs, residential communities, and metro links.
What’s New on the Road?
Route 31: Silicon Oasis ↔ Outsource City
A much-needed link between two of Dubai’s busiest business districts. Perfect for professionals and students in the area. Runs every 20 minutes during peak hours.
Routes 62A & 62B: A Smarter Split
- 62A: Al Qusais Industrial Area → Al Qusais Metro Station
- 62B: Al Qusais Metro Station → Ras Al Khor (Samari Residences)
These routes replace the old 62, running every 30 minutes in peak times to cover more ground.
Route F26A: Onpassive Bus Station ↔ Al Quoz Industrial Area 4
Designed for workers and residents in Al Quoz, this route will operate every 30 minutes during rush hours.
Express Route X91: Al Ghubaiba ↔ Jebel Ali
A faster connection to Jebel Ali, skipping the Business Bay stop. For Business Bay passengers, the adjusted Route 91 will still be available. Runs every 30 minutes during busy hours.
Which Routes Are Changing?
Alongside the new launches, nine routes are being reworked to cut delays and improve efficiency:
Route 7 – Now two-way between Al Quoz and Al Satwa (no more loop).
- Route 91 – Shortened to run only up to Business Bay Metro.
- Route F62 – Now two-way between Emirates Metro and Nad Al Hamar.
- Route 77 – Two-way between Baniyas Square Metro and Al Garhoud.
- Route X25 – Shortened to operate between Al Karama and Silicon Oasis.
- Route 50 – No longer passes through Outsource City; tweaks in International City coming soon.
- Route 21A – Limited to Al Quoz ↔ Al Ghubaiba.
- Route 21B – Runs Al Ghubaiba ↔ Al Quoz.
- Route J01 – Reconfigured within Jumeirah Village Circle.
Why This Is Good News for Commuters
- Faster Trips: Express routes and shorter loops mean less waiting time.
- Better Coverage: Expands access to growing residential and industrial zones.
- Easier Connections: Links directly with metro stations and key hubs.
- Future Growth: Fits into Dubai’s bigger plan for sustainable, smart mobility.
